Mothers Day dilemma: idealized cards, less-than-ideal Mom...?

I realize that no human being is perfect, but does Hallmark? I love Hallmark, BTW, but come Mothers Day, or when it comes to Christmas or birthday cards for Mother, she is "always supportive, always loving, always there". Mine isn't, and I won't give her a card that says she is. She is often verbally abusive, critical, and faultfinding. Until they make cards with milder praise, I'll have to find cards that say "God bless you" or "Have a wonderful day" and not much more than that. Does anyone else experience this dilemma when it comes to Mothers Day? If so, how do you handle it?

Mothers Day dilemma: idealized cards, less-than-ideal Mom...?
I understand your dilemma, my Mother is also critical and fault finding... and demanding.. which means any store bought card would be met with poorly disguised contempt, as she EXPECTS me to slave away for hours over hand made cards and gifts. This I do out of obligation and a wish to keep her quiet, rather than an urge to show my grattitude.

I guess the bonus is, I can make cards that say whatever I like.. and I'm really liking the above posters amusing card..
Reply:Try an empty card. You can put anything on them. Report Abuse

Reply:I always give my mother (who has those same flaws) a funny card, without too much sentiment.
Reply:?perhaps Making one of your own? If you have the software tools on your pc, then you can create your own, with your own saying in it!
Reply:If your mother is that bad, why bother?

Does this "abusive, critical, faulfinding" mother by you a birthday card and present.

Therein lies your answer!

I suspect you are being over-critical. Grow up!
Reply:I saw a mother's day card that read:

(Front Cover) - It's Mother's Day. I bought you a card.

(Inside) - This is the inside.

(Back Cover) - This is the back.

I thought that card was hilarious! Of course, I bought the card next to it with the daisy's and mushy message.
Reply:OH BOY...SOMEONE ELSE WHO HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE FRIENDS WHO SAY WHY BOTHER, BUT SHE IS MY MOTHER AND I LOVE HER BC SHE IS MY PARENT, BUT I DON'T NECESSARILY LIKE HER.

SOLUTION, A BLANK CARD THAT I USU JUST WRITE HAPPY WHATEVER.
Reply:What about a card with a good picture on the front and blank inside for your own message ..... possibly something like "I can't wait to choose your old age home!"
